November Starlooks

So I've had my November 2012 Starlooks Starbox for a couple of weeks now. I had received a couple of boxes previously to try and review and you can see those posts here: September Starbox & October Starbox. However I am now a paying subscriber to the monthly boxes because I was wowed by the ones I reviewed! If you decide to sign up, let them know I sent you! You can follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube

This month was very neutral shades after the previous month being bold colors for eyes and lips. I received a quad eye shadow palette in shimmery and matte browns/creams/gold tones. The card that came in the box explained how to put on the four different colors to give your eyes and face a primed face. Here's what the card said: "For your paticular set, always apply the top left color in your palette as your highlight under the brow and/or on the lid. Apply the top right palette color all over the lid and eye as a base. The bottome left goes into the crease, and the bottom right can create the perfect eye corner."  I really like this quad and I sometimes follow the instructions, sometimes use them how I want alone and other times mix them with other shadows. I use browns like crazy, bright colors are fun, but for regular work days or when I just want a natural look I always fall back on browns. I am light complex with freckles and dark auburn almost brown hair. So browns, greens, pretty much any earthy toned colors look fab on me! Here's an eye look I made following their instructions for the showdown followed with brown and gold eyeliners and dark brown mascara.

What is this crazy pink device? At first I was baffled...but then after much contemplation and goofing around with it I figured out its not a crazy torture device but rather a mascara tool. The pointy end is two different sized combs and the weird top half is lash guards. For your upper lashes you put the thing with your eye in the whole. It then protects your upper lid a you wand on your mascara. Then the top part is for the lower lashes. This actually is really neat and useful! I can't see well without my glasses and because of my allergies and horrible swelling and bags under my eyes tend to skip on my contacts. This means a lot of my makeup application is by feel or with my nose almost touching the mirror. I often make mistakes because of working at the awkward angles if I'm close to the mirror or just doing it by feel..well feel is not perfect! I often get smudges of mascara all around and this little guy (or gal because it's pink?) helps to protect my eye areas and makeup that I've already applied!

Nude lipstick...really what do I do with a nude lipstick? I've seen some others who got a colored lipstick and they had ordered the light box as well so I'm not really sure what is up with that? I tried the nude by itself but it is just not me. I can't do nude...I need pink lips! Regardless of the color this was a lipstick mixed with lip gloss so it does go on smoothly and is not sticky. It seemed to have a little shimmer to it as well. The only use I can see for it is to use it as a base or mix it with other colors. Right now I am really into mixing colors because I had gotten some Covergirl Blast Flipsticks to try out from BzzAgent and their whole concept is to mix and create your own personal colors. So I will keep playing with it and see how I can use it with other colors and have a bit of fun!

Check out my video below of unboxing the items and my first thoughts. Then scroll a little further down to see a final picture of me wearing the four colors from the palette. I think it works really well with my skin tone for a natural day/work simple look that isn't to flashy. Oh and lastly, I love my quartz crystals that come in every box! I'm a minerals girl so I think this is just a cute and fab little extra that they throw in!

Disclosure: There is nothing to disclose, I paid for this box and all opinions are mine and honest.
