Trying to Keep my Cool...

Both Lady Bug and I had a busy week, and will continue to have a couple more busy weeks. Yeah, most of it is on her...but since I'm mom I have to make sure she is where she needs to be! So that means I'm busy too! Last week it seemed like after work I had one meeting or another for scouts or band booster. I had the weekend off, but went to a music program my daughter had to be at on Saturday then did some shopping to find shoes to match her dress for her Spring Black and White Formal. OMG, my baby lady bug is going to be Miss Lady Bug soon and going to her first formal dance! YIKES!!!!

I got to relax on Sunday for Mother's Day, hubby bought me a Mile High Chocolate cake. The kids gave me cute cards they made. I just relaxed, I actually wanted to spend my day spring cleaning but it was just toooo darn hot! I was fiddling with the AC all day trying to get it to work. We had a heat wave a couple weeks ago, then it dropped back down to cool again. Now over the weekend it's spiked back up to the low to mid 90s! Ugggh. I do not do heat well, not sure what I was thinking moving to a state that gets hot. I am a cold dreary wet loving girl from Washington state through and through! I kept fiddling with the machine but could never get it to go lower than mid to high 80's no matter what temp I set it at. Dropping it lower did not work.

So Monday morning straight to the apartments office I went to report it. Heard that they stopped in this morning to check it but I'll have to wait until I get home to read the response. Something needed to be ordered, hubby said he had a hard time reading the fixit guys handwriting that maybe me or my daughter would have better luck. After that took my son to school and off to the Dr office for my annual check up and reminder that I need to loose weight. Someday right? I keep jumping back on the I'm going to eat healthy and loose weight band wagon...then fall off and get ran over by the horses pulling it because life happens.

Still in the afternoon the fixit guy hadn't come by so I was still miserably hot...the kids and I decided to turn in their cans that they had collected. We normally saved the cans from the soda my hubby drinks and I would usually turn them in and keep the money. My kids have been picking up cans on their walks home from school, while out with the dog, etc. So hubby decided that from now on if they continue to collect as well we will let them cash them in and split the money. It's a good way for them to learn about responsibility and helping their community and environment while also earning something for themselves.

After that we went to the grocery store to pick up a few filler items...and boy I must have been thirsty because I bought sooooo many types of drinks. Mostly juices and soda, but man a lot! hahaha... they say never go to the store hungry. Well I say never go thirsty!!

This morning I lost the little bit of cool I had left because the kids left the house messy after it got all picked up over the weekend. I don't know why they do it but we need to start working on some better system because it was ridiculous that I went to bed and it was clean and I woke up and it was a mess...from their room, to the living room to the kitchen. Hmmph the life of a mom right!?!? Kids are magical and able to undo everything in a matter of seconds. Hopefully we can get it all picked up again tonight for Grandpas arrival tomorrow.

It's bad enough when mom is hot and cranky...but do we really need to step it up by cleaning the house then destroying it a day before a visitor arrives? Or catching the dog eating a PB&J sandwich that has been in their bedroom for how long? Hopefully it doesn't take long to get the AC fixed, because I'm a total lazy, cranky, pain in the you know...when I'm hot.

Well at least I have continued chaos to get me through the next couple of weeks via my Lady Bug. We have more band concerts and practices, Spring Formal, her birthday, high honors ceremony, and she has some during school activities because she is a good student. Yikes! Plus slowing turning in all of her stuff because of the end of the year...I guess I should cut her some slack with everything she has going on. And this is only her first year of middle school...the next five will become a blur before I know it! And they are 4 years apart, so just as I'm winding down with her...he's going to be going full swing!

Does your family seem to get extra busy this time of year too? Let me know in the comments!

Wordless Wednesday ~ Son's 1st Strawberry + Linky

I know this is supposed to be wordless, but I just wanted to share that these are Lego Boy's first strawberries and he is soo excited! They planted them at a Cub Scout den meeting and he has been watering it and watching them grow. The plant only has a few this year but hopefully we can move it to a bigger planter and have many more next year! I also have to give him photo cred! He took the pictures and I just edited them a bit to post on here.

Aveeno Pure Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner ~ Review

I bought this Aveeno Active Naturals 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner Sulfate-Free because I have dandruff and scalp itch…it was my shameful secret until I started blogging about it and other products I have tried for it. I wanted to try a sulfate free shampoo to rule out the possibility of having a sulfate allergy that might be causing the itch part. Sadly after using it my condition doesn’t seem to be caused by sulfates as it continued and did not get better during the use of this product.

That being said over all this wasn’t a bad product. Shampoo wise it cleaned my hair well. It didn’t seem to leave any build up and cleaned out the gunk from styling products. It seemed to me it got pretty sudsy which was weird because one of the rumors I heard was that sulfate free shampoos do not foam/suds up well compared to regular shampoos.

I would even recommend it for when you need a good two in one for the gym, traveling, or if you just like to use less products. I found that most days it conditioned my hair well enough that I didn’t need to use a conditioner afterwards. While using it I would only use a deep conditioner once a week when I used my clarifying shampoo. I was actually a little surprised by this because any two in one I’ve ever tried in the past I have always needed a conditioner afterwards if I was using it on a regular basis. I used it during the winter so I didn’t get to test it out after swimming in chlorine. We live in apartment complex that has a pool and during the summer I swim and therefor shower and wash my hair more often than during the winter.

I give this product four Bear Paws out of five.

Disclosure: Nothing to disclose, I bought this product with my own money. This is 100% honest opinion of what I thought while using the product.
